Prosilio is one of the northern villages of Tzoumerka. Surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape at the foot of Mount Lakmos, Prosilio is at an altitude of 700m and a distance of 48km from Ioannina. Although in the winter there are few inhabitants, the village is an excellent choice for the visitor who wants to explore the northern areas of Tzoumerka all around the year. Nearby are the monasteries of Kipina and Vyliza as well as the villages of Syrrako and Kalarrytes.
The Holy Monastery of Kipina is built in a rock pit, just above the road leading to the village of Kalarrites. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and according to the tradition, it was built in 1212 by monk Gregory. Visitors of the Monastery can take a close look at the beautiful frescoes that decorate the interior, most of which are dated back to the late 17th century.
The Monastery of Panagia Viliza is located near the village Matsouki and it is only accessible by a 2 km trail from the village. It is dedicated to the Annunciation and it was probably established at the first half of the 17th century.
